1. Information We Collect

Account Information

When you create an account with any of our applications, we may collect:

  • Name and email address
  • Phone number (when you choose phone-based authentication)
  • Date of birth (used to verify minimum age requirements; see Section 6)
  • Profile photo (from your device or OAuth provider)
  • Location information, including approximate device location when you allow it, used to show events near you

Contacts

Populr Events can access your device's contacts, with your permission, for two purposes. When you choose contacts to invite to an event, we store the name and phone number you selected so we can deliver the invitation and show you who has been invited. When you enable contact matching, phone numbers from your address book are sent to us in order to identify which of your contacts already have Populr accounts. Numbers used for matching are not retained. You can decline contacts access at any time in iOS Settings, and the rest of the app continues to work.

Usage Data

We automatically collect certain information about how you interact with our apps, including device type, operating system, IP address, pages viewed, and features used. This helps us improve the experience for all users.

Advertising Data

Our free applications display advertisements to support operating costs. Ads are served by Google AdMob. In connection with ad delivery, AdMob may collect the following information from your device:

  • Device advertising identifier (IDFA on iOS; Google Advertising ID on Android)
  • Device type, model, and operating system version
  • General location derived from IP address
  • Ad interaction data, including impressions and taps

This data is collected and processed by Google in accordance with their privacy policies. See Section 12 for details on advertising and how to opt out of personalized ads.

Content You Create

When you use our apps, we collect content you create, such as events, RSVPs, messages, photos, videos, and other submissions. This content is stored securely and used to operate the services. Photos and videos uploaded to the Moments feature are additionally processed by our automated content moderation system before they are made visible to other users (see Section 5).

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide, maintain, and improve our applications
  • Send transactional communications (event invitations, RSVP confirmations, account verification)
  • Send SMS messages you have explicitly opted into (see Section 3)
  • Respond to your comments and questions
  • Send technical notices and support messages
  • Monitor and analyze usage trends to improve our products
  • Review and moderate user-generated content including photos and videos uploaded to the Moments feature (see Section 5)
  • Verify minimum age requirements and apply appropriate account restrictions for minor users (see Section 6)
  • Display advertisements within our free applications through third-party ad networks (see Section 12)
  • Detect, investigate, and prevent fraudulent, illegal, or policy-violating activity

3. SMS Communications

SMS Consent Disclosure

By providing your phone number, you consent to receive text messages from Populr. Message and data rates may apply. Text STOP to unsubscribe or HELP for more info.

Types of SMS Messages We Send

Our applications may send the following types of SMS messages:

  • One-Time Passcodes (OTP): Verification codes sent when you log in or verify your phone number. These are transactional messages required for account security.
  • Event Invitations: SMS invitations sent on behalf of event organizers to guests they have chosen to invite. You receive these only when an organizer explicitly invites you.
  • Event Reminders: Optional reminder messages about upcoming events you have RSVP'd to. You may opt out of these in your notification settings.

How You Consent to SMS

  1. OTP / Verification: When you enter your phone number on our login screen and tap "Send Code," you consent to receive a one-time passcode via SMS. The login screen displays: "By providing your phone number, you consent to receive text messages from Populr. Message and data rates may apply. Text STOP to unsubscribe or HELP for more info."
  2. Event Invitations: When you receive an SMS invitation from an event organizer, consent is implicit in the organizer's relationship with you as an invited guest. Every invitation SMS includes opt-out instructions.

How to Opt Out of SMS

You may opt out of SMS messages at any time by:

  • Replying STOP to any SMS message we send. You will receive a confirmation and no further messages will be sent.
  • Updating your notification preferences in your account settings within the app.
  • Contacting us at privacy@bloomtechstudio.com

SMS Privacy

We do not sell, rent, or share your phone number with third-party marketers. Your phone number is used solely to provide the SMS services described above and to operate our applications.

4. User-Generated Content and Moments

About Moments

The Moments feature in Populr allows event attendees to upload photos and short videos associated with an event. Moments are visible to other attendees of the same event. Before any Moment is published, it is processed by our automated content moderation system and may also be reviewed by human moderators.

What We Collect When You Upload a Moment

When you upload a photo or video as a Moment, we collect and store:

  • The media file itself, stored via our third-party media hosting provider (Cloudinary)
  • Metadata associated with the file, which may include timestamp and media type
  • The uploader's user ID and the event the Moment is associated with
  • A moderation score generated by our automated content screening system
  • Reactions and engagement (tapbacks) from other attendees

Visibility of Moments

Moments are visible only to confirmed attendees of the event to which they are uploaded. Moments are never made publicly discoverable to users outside the event unless the event host has specifically enabled public visibility for the event. Moments uploaded by users with minor accounts (ages 13–17) are subject to additional visibility restrictions described in Section 6.

Removing Your Moments

You may delete any Moment you uploaded at any time through the app. If you believe another user's Moment violates our policies, you may use the in-app report feature to flag it for review. Event organizers also have the ability to remove Moments from their events.

5. Content Moderation

Automated Screening

All photos and videos uploaded to the Moments feature are automatically screened by our content moderation system before they are made visible to other users. This system evaluates content for potential violations of our community guidelines, including nudity, graphic violence, and other prohibited material. Content that receives a high-risk score from our automated system is held for human review before publication.

Human Review

Our moderation team may review content that has been flagged by our automated system, reported by users, or otherwise identified as potentially violating our policies. Human reviewers access flagged content solely for the purpose of making moderation decisions.

Moderation Decisions

Content that violates our policies may be removed without notice. We may also suspend or terminate accounts that repeatedly violate our content policies. If your content is removed and you believe this was in error, you may contact us at support@bloomtechstudio.com to request a review.

Data from Moderation

Moderation scores and decisions are stored in association with uploaded content and user accounts. This information is used to improve our moderation systems and to identify patterns of policy violations. We do not use moderation data to target advertising.

6. Children's Privacy and Minor Accounts (Ages 13–17)

Minimum Age Requirement

Our services are not directed to children under the age of 13. We require users to confirm they are at least 13 years old during account creation. If we discover that we have inadvertently collected personal information from a child under 13, we will promptly delete it. If you believe we have collected information from a child under 13, please contact us immediately at privacy@bloomtechstudio.com.

Age Verification at Signup

During account creation, users are asked to confirm they meet the minimum age requirement. We use a date-of-birth gate to enforce this requirement. If a user indicates they are under 13, account creation is blocked and no personal information is retained from that attempt. We do not store the date of birth entered during a blocked registration.

Accounts for Users Ages 13–17

Users between the ages of 13 and 17 may create accounts, subject to the following additional restrictions designed to protect their privacy and safety:

  • Content visibility: Any Moments (photos or videos) uploaded by a minor account are held in a moderation queue and reviewed before being published, regardless of the automated screening result. A stricter NSFW threshold is applied.
  • Event discovery: Minor accounts cannot be discovered through public event browsing. Their profiles are not shown to users they do not share an event with.
  • Default privacy: The default content visibility for minor accounts is set to "event attendees only." Minor users cannot be found through general user search.
  • Direct messaging: Minor accounts cannot receive direct messages from users who are not confirmed attendees of a shared event.
  • Content display: Content that has been flagged or rated as potentially mature by our moderation system is not shown to users with minor accounts, even if the content passed automated screening at the standard threshold.

Parental Rights

If you are a parent or guardian of a user under the age of 18 and have questions about their account or wish to request deletion of their information, please contact us at privacy@bloomtechstudio.com. We will respond within 30 days.

7. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We may share your information only in the following circumstances:

  • Service Providers: With third-party companies that perform services on our behalf (such as cloud hosting, media storage and delivery, SMS delivery, email delivery, content moderation, and analytics), subject to strict confidentiality agreements. These providers may not use your information for their own marketing purposes.
  • Legal Requirements: When required by law, subpoena, or similar legal process, or when we believe disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, your safety, or the safety of others.
  • Business Transfers: In connection with any merger, sale, or acquisition of all or a portion of our company, provided the acquiring entity agrees to honor this Privacy Policy.

8. Data Security

We use industry-standard encryption and security practices to protect your data, including TLS encryption for data in transit and encryption at rest. Your data is stored on cloud infrastructure hosted in the United States, including Supabase (hosted on Amazon Web Services) for application data and authentication, and Cloudinary for media storage. However, no method of transmission over the Internet is 100% secure. We encourage you to use strong passwords and to notify us immediately if you suspect unauthorized access to your account.

9. Data Retention

We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide services. You may request deletion of your account and personal data at any time by contacting us. Some information may be retained for legal or operational purposes after account deletion. Uploaded Moments that have been removed through moderation may be retained in a non-public state for a limited period for moderation record-keeping purposes before permanent deletion.

10. Your Rights

You have the following rights regarding your personal information:

  • Access: Request a copy of the personal information we hold about you
  • Correction: Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete information
  • Deletion: Request deletion of your personal information
  • Opt-Out: Opt out of SMS communications at any time (see Section 3)
  • Portability: Request a portable copy of your data in a structured format
  • Content removal: Delete your own uploaded Moments at any time through the app

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at privacy@bloomtechstudio.com. We will respond within 30 days.

11. Cookies and Tracking

Our web applications use cookies and similar tracking technologies to maintain your session, remember your preferences, and analyze usage. You may control cookie settings through your browser. Disabling cookies may affect the functionality of our web applications.

We use Google Analytics to understand how users interact with our web applications. Google Analytics collects anonymized usage data. You can opt out of Google Analytics by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

Within our mobile applications, we use PostHog to analyze usage patterns and improve the in-app experience. PostHog data is associated with your account identifier to help us understand how features are used across sessions. This data is not shared with third parties for marketing purposes and is used solely to improve our products.

12. Advertising

Our free applications display advertisements to help support operating costs. Ads are served by Google AdMob, a third-party advertising network operated by Google LLC.

What AdMob Collects

In connection with displaying ads, Google AdMob may collect the following data from your device:

  • Device advertising identifier (IDFA on iOS; Google Advertising ID / GAID on Android)
  • Device type, model, and operating system version
  • General location derived from IP address
  • Ad interaction data, including impressions and taps

This data is collected and processed by Google in accordance with Google's Privacy Policy. We do not combine advertising data collected by AdMob with your account information for targeting purposes.

Opting Out of Personalized Ads

You can limit personalized advertising on your device using your platform's built-in settings:

  • iOS: Go to Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking and disable "Allow Apps to Request to Track." You can also go to Settings → Privacy & Security → Apple Advertising and turn off "Personalized Ads."
  • Android: Go to Settings → Privacy → Ads and select "Delete advertising ID" or "Opt out of Ads Personalization."

Opting out of personalized ads does not remove ads from the application; it means the ads you see will be less tailored to your interests.

13. Third-Party Services

Our applications rely on the following third-party service providers. Each provider's use of your data is governed by their own privacy policy:

  • Supabase — database, authentication, and serverless functions. Privacy Policy

When you click an affiliate link, you may be directed to a third-party website or app. This Privacy Policy does not apply to those services. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of any third-party services you use in connection with our applications.

14. Changes to This Policy
